Product Description

*Holmium Metal/ Sputtering Target is a silver-gray active metal with a molecular formula of Ho. The powder is easily self-igniting in the air and easily soluble in acid, Insoluble in water. After exposure to oxygen in the air, it is very easy to exotherm into oxidized rare earth, The package is sealed and must not be in contact with air.

*It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, halogens, and food chemicals. It is too reactive to be found uncombined in nature, but when isolated, is relatively stable in dry air at room temperature. However, it reacts with water and corrodes readily, and will also burn in air when heated.

*Used in yttrium-iron-garnet (YIG) and yttrium-lanthanum-fluoride (YLF) solid-state lasers. Holmium lasers are used in medical, dental, and fiber-optical applications. Used as a yellow and red pigment for cubic zirconia and glass. Used to create artificially generated magnetic fields.
